Terms of Reference for the CME Co-ordinating group (COG)

The purpose of the Co-ordinating group is to utilise available resources within the three maternity hospitals to maximise Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes in a cost effective and efficient manner for midwifery staff in the Dublin catchment area.

Chaired by the Director for the CME the committee will:

  • Work in partnership to provide support and assistance to the Director of the CME in organising and facilitating CPD; including sourcing of speakers, venues and other necessary arrangements as agreed with the Director CME.
  • Advise and inform on issues such as training requirements as agreed with the Directors of Midwifery & Nursing in the respective hospitals based on service need.
  • Attend meetings with the Director of the CME on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensure quality assurance by achieving maximum accreditation for all programmes.
  • Agree on and develop evaluation mechanisms for all programmes.
  • Construct a professional development strategy taking cognisance of national developments and aligning with national objectives, NMBI Competencies requirements & standards and National Clinical Programme developments. This strategy will be ratified by the CME BOM.

These TOR well be reviewed in December 2015.
